Interests - both political and personal

Vivien Dance is an active member of the Helensburgh community. After a teaching career at Hermitage Academy, Vivien developed a family business in Helensburgh of which she is still a Director and Company Secretary. In the last ten years she accepted public appointments, five years of which were spent in Argyll and Bute as chairman of the NHS Primary Care Trust. Her election to Argyll and Bute Council this year was her first venture into politics.

Vivien has a lifetime’s experience of volunteering in the community. Many years on the children’s panel were followed by appointment as a bench serving Justice of the Peace. She is passionate about social justice and social inclusion and has played a leading role in the development of the Lomond and Argyll Advocacy Service since its inception in 2000. What spare time is left is spent gardening and raising funds for MacMillan Cancer Relief, Argyll Pipe band and Jigsaw, three organisations which she holds in high regard.

Vivien was  "Citizen of the Year" in 2008
